Intuition: the way forward?

For so long we’ve collectively shied away from the “spiritual” aspect of ourselves. It became taboo in the era of scientific advancement and facts and figures. In truth, however, all the best scientists and innovators have been, and are, deeply “spiritual” or possibly more accurately,  intuitive. Both Nikola Tesla and Albert Einstein were fascinated by the fabric and nature of the Universe and instead of proving that there is no “God”, they both raised more questions about the nature of “God”, acknowledging that there is a pervading life force or Creator energy that is this Universe (and all others).

As the East began to influence the Western paradigm of Life, the word Consciousness has become popular, and it is pretty much synonymous with “God”. Consciousness ebbs and flows and manifests itself as all things. That is why it is often referred to as a “stream of Consciousness”. My understanding is that intuition is the ability to “tap” into that stream of Consciousness and bring it into our reality through thought and action. That is what many believe to be the source of men like Einstein’s and Tesla’s genius. So many of our modern geniuses are seen to be a bit weird or slightly unhinged. I think that this is because they are operating at a different frequency to most, although this is becoming more and more common.

Using our intuition is our birthright and you will find young children constantly tapping into the stream of Consciousness and expressing it through their imagination. Imaginary friends, dream-world adventures, communicating with elementals (fairies, pixies, etc.) are all indications of this. It is a pity that most of us are conditioned out of this state of flow. The possibilities of this wonderful world are slowly honed down to a narrow bandwidth of three dimensional experience, hardly ever deviating from that. Sometimes we get a glimpse of other dimensions; when we watch a magnificent sunset, or hold our newborn child in our arms, or get lost in a piece of music, or engross ourselves in some creative endeavour. What if it was possible to be in this ecstatic state for the majority of the time? Imagine what a different world we’d live in! A world where literally anything is possible, where joy and creativity is the norm rather than the exception, where judgements are suspended because everyone is literally living their dream. Yes, I know that this utopian fantasy seems absolutely impossible, especially from where we stand at this time, but can you IMAGINE it?

What if our education was focused on maintaining and growing that childhood innocence and creativity? What if our “childish” ability to tap into that stream of Consciousness and inuite our way through life was actually taught rather than discouraged or suppressed? What if the “box” was completely thrown out and our children were allowed to be? Obviously, this is fantastic as a concept and I am asking that you just imagine, but, perhaps if we can dream or imagine, it could become a part of our “reality”?

Intuition is a consequence of being present and innocent in the moment. Present means that our awareness is exactly where we are - identification with future or past is suspended and we’re absolutely here, now. Innocence is a suspension of judgements and trying to “make sense” - “in-no-sense” to coin a William Whitecloud phrase. If we think about curriculums, timetables, standards, assessments and most other educational props, there is little to no room for either presence or innocence. When compliance is paramount in order to control, intuition becomes an enormous issue. Human beings who know their true nature, the incredible possibilities and abilities that are in their grasp, are not easily lead by a dominant narrative and therefore not able to be “controlled”.  However, I cannot help but be in awe of how indomitable the human spirit is. Look how far we’ve come under the circumstances!

As these dominant systems crumble and wane, as they seem to be doing presently, it would be wise for us to create new structures based on a different paradigm. To be able to do this successfully we will need to use our intuition, and our imagination to opperationalise our intuition. Going forward, I feel it is paramount that we learn to tap into that stream of Conciousness and allow our children to be everything they can be, through systems that nurture rather than “mould” them. It’s time to IMAGINE a better way.
